may not be around as much... or even remotely cheerful
I just found out.

My daddy, who's in South Texas, is in critical condition at the hospital. Renal failure, made worse by the fact that he has Hep C. They can't even do anything to TRY to help him because he's nto stable enough. Anything they tried might only make it worse.

I haven't seen him since I was 7, and have only talked to him sporadically over the lasst few years... and I really hoped to see him again someday. But... now I probably won't get that chance. My aunt said she'd call if anything else happened, but...

My daddy's dying.

Update: Daddy called me. Apparently my aunt let him know that she'd called and told us, and he wanted to talk to me. He kept saying he was gonna get better, which considering what my aunt told us... it's unlikely. But at leats this way I got to talk to him at least one more time, and he told me he loves me, and I was able to tell him that I love him.

I'm still... god this is killing me, but... at leats I talked to him, you know? At least I got at least this one last chance to tell him that I love him and to hear it back from him. My brothers didn't get that with their dad (he was murdered when they were 3), my mom didn't get that with her mom (she was in another city, last time they'd talked was a week earlier) and my mom only kinda got that with her dad (he was about as far from lucid as possible near the end of his battle with cancer, so while she could tell him, he wasn't really able to say it back), so at least I got that chance.

I'm so sorry Sweetie. The conversation you had with your dad I'm sure meant everything to him and I'm so glad that you had the chance to speak with him.

I'm so sorry, Mara! My heart goes out to you and your family. I can't even comprehend what you're going through, but I'm sure your father treasures that conversation.

Oh, Mara. I'm so sorry.

I wish that I could help.

I'm so grateful that you had the opportunity to have that conversation with him.
