24 Gifts Of 2010 - Day Twelve - Red, And Green, And Blue, And Platinum
Ryan lets Seth and Summer babysit his daughter... Summer trusts Seth with a simple task... Seth still screws it up.

Red, And Green, And Blue, And Platinum

Ryan stopped, his mug of coffee halfway to his mouth, and stared as his 5 year-old daughter came bouncing into the kitchen. "Lily?"

"Yes, daddy?" Lily replied.

"What happened to your hair?"

"You don't like it?" Lily asked, tugging on her twin braids.

"No, baby, it's not that I don't like it, it's just... really red... and green... and blue..."

"Uncle Seth did it for Chrismukkah!" Lily said. "Red and Green on one side, blue and plat... plate blonde on the other."

"Huh," Ryan said. "Where is Uncle Seth right now? And why did Aunt Summer leave you alone with him long enough to do this?"

"Aunt Summer took us to the place they did it!" Lily said happily. "Do you like it?"

"It's very... festive..."

"Chino!" Summer said running in, her face showing her regret. "I swear, it was suppose to be ribbons. I even gave Seth the bag of ribbons... but I needed to take Hannah to get her glasses... I didn't think Seth could mess up having them braid ribbons in her hair!"

"Just please, tell me it washes out," Ryan said.

"About five washings," Summer said.

"Five?" Ryan asked. "There's... Brooke's coming home tonight..."

"I know," Summer said. "Hence, pretty ribbons, all braided in to look pretty... Chino, I am so sorry... I didn't think Seth could mess it up! Ribbons, braids! It's not complicated!"

"I just... are you prepared to be a Chrismukkah widow, Summer? Because I may be willing to let him live since he's my brother, by Brooke? Much less likely to be forgiving."

"I know," Summer said. "I really am sorry..."

"Daddy?" Lily asked. "Is mommy gonna be mad?"

"Not at you, baby, not at you," Ryan promised. "But Uncle Seth may be too scared of mommy to come around for a long while."

"Do you think Mommy will like my hair?"

"I think..." Ryan began, then stopped. "I think mommy will be so happy to see you and will think you are just as beautiful as always," he said. "Why don't you go play until we have to go pick mommy up?"

"Okay!" Lily said, turning and hurrying out of the room.

"I'm gonna go make sure Seth's passport is up to date in case he needs to flee the country in order to survive," Summer said.

"Good idea," Ryan said.

"It could be worse," Summer added.

"How, exactly?"

"She could have dark hair. Seth would have had to have them bleach it all first."

"That doesn't help," Ryan said.

"Didn't really think it would."

"I'll see you tomorrow night at Sandy and Kirsten's."

"Tomorrow," Summer agreed before hurrying out. "You are so dead," she told Seth as she got into the car and glanced to wear he was hiding in the back seat. "Brooke is going to kill you, and Ryan is going to let her."

"I just thought, if ribbons are cute..."

"Quit now, Dad," nine-year-old Hannah said from the front seat with a sigh. "While your only behind and not ten feet under."

The End

So funny. I don't think I'd met Hannah before - love her snark.

Nope, Hannah has never before appeared in any of my fics... last time I gave Seth and Summer a kid it was a son named David... lol... I kinda like her, though... lol

Yeah, this Hannah definitely sounds like Summer's daughter, LOL.

Love this: "Where is Uncle Seth right now? And why did Aunt Summer leave you alone with him long enough to do this?" I can picture Ryan the wheels turning as he plans what Seth's punishment should be...

Your gifts are great- thanks!
