Tonight i think i may cry...
One Tree Hill series finale.. no more Brooke, Nathan, Haley, Quinn, or Clay every week...

I went from rolling my eyes at Brooke's antics (stripping in the backseat of Lucas' car... humiliating Haley at the party... and throwing herself at guys...) to loving her so much... she loves with her whole heart, and no matter how often she's hurt because of it, she still believes in love and hope and things working out. She is the woman who literally died to save her godson, and who would do the same for anyone she loves. Maybe with some slight hesitation now that she's a mom, but in the end I think if the crash and everything happened after Jude and Davis were born? She wouldn't do anything different because she loves Jamie and knows she'd want someone to be willing to do the same for her boys... she is the biggest 'Naley' shipper ever, and she will always be there for them.

I went from adoring Lucas and despising Nathan to the complete opposite... Lucas never really showed character growth, as far as I saw. Up until the end of Season 5, he still pretended to be madly in love with one woman while actually pining for another, and in Season 6 him thinking that whether Peyton had the baby or ended the pregnancy was his decision? No. Just... no. To ask to talk about it and tell her that he thought she should end the pregnancy? Fine, he had a right to his opinion. But he acted as though Peyton's desire to have the baby, no matter what the risk, was out of line.

But Nathan... he went from an arrogant asshole, to the guy who was so delighted to see his baby daughter walking... he went from the guy who treated people like crap to the guy who gathered Brooke in his arms on the day of Q's funeral and made it clear he would be there for her. He wasn't good enough for Haley in the first few episodes, but now I can't imagine either of them with anyone else. I mostly avoided spoilers for this season, wanting to be surprised, but I couldn't stand the fear that Nathan would die, so I was spoiled for a lot of stuff. Interesting that the only spoiler-y bit I remembered was that Nathan would be okay... I forgot everything else until it other became obvious (Logan being Clay's son for one... I'd like to think I would have figured it out even without being spoiled... lol) or was revealed and then I remembered reading it, but I remembered that Nathan would be okay.

When Clay and Quinn first appeared, I didn't really care about them, but I slowly fell in love with them and by the end of Season 7, I was gasping when they were shot and hoping they'd be okay. And now I love them a bunch and will miss them, and Logan, a lot.

I though Chase was incredibly boring in Season 4, couldn't care less about him. But when he came back after the time jump, I started to like him, and then when he and Alex got together, I started to love him, and when he was awesome with Chuck, I fell in love with him.

Alex... god I hated her. She was hurting my Brooke and I didn't like that. But as she spiraled down into her suicide attempt I started feeling sorry for her. And once she stopped pursuing Julian I fell in love with her. I wish she hadn't broken Chase's heart by leaving, but I understand her decision to go on tour. I just hope that she'll come back and she and Chase will be able to make it as a couple long term...

I also have to have a special mention to Chris Keller. I HATED him when he first appeared in Season 2, but when the gang ran into him in Texas while helping Mouth, I liked him a little bit in an eye rolling wanna smack him kinda way... and now in Season 9... I kind of adore Chris, he's been awesome.

Yeah, I have a lot of feelings about this. It's like The OC ending all over again, except I've had more than twice as long to know and love these characters so in some ways it's harder to say goodbye...

My personal head canon is that Brooke and Julian's will says that if anything happens to them, Nathan and Haley get custody of Jude and Davis (with a note that if they can't for some reason, Victoria gets custody). And Nathan and Haley's will leaves Brooke and Julian with custody of Jamie and Lydia (with Clay and Quinn as back up if Brooke and Julian can't). Each set of parents know the other set would love and protect the kids like their own. Yeah, that's my head canon. I believe that Naley's will has left custody to Brooke since the first time they considered what would happen to Jamie if they died, because they know Brooke has the biggest heart in the world and would make it okay for Jamie, no matter how long that took. (Come on... in very early Season 5, Brooke implied quite strongly that part of her reason for staying in Tree Hill was Jamie, she wanted to be close to her godson and watch him grow)...

Anyway... yeah... I'm just glad that in the end, Brooke Davis got the boy and the babies, and Nathan and Haley are still always and forever, and Clay, Quinn, and Logan are going to be a family together...

I will either edit this or post another entry with my thoughts on the actual final episode, as opposed to just the show in general... but right now, watching the little retrospective of the whole 9 years of the show got me all emotional... lol
