24 Gifts Of 2016 - Day Twenty One - Home For The Holidays 2 (Ryan Bullit!Verse)
Okay! Three gifts back to back tonight to make up for the last few days! lol So here's the first of those three...

This is back to the point in the Ryan Bullit!Verse where Ryan is taking Brooke to Texas for Christmas. Brooke meets the Bullits!

Home For The Holidays 2

When they got to Dallas, they were greeted by The Bullit himself, who smiled widely as he engulfed his youngest son in a hug. "Missed you, kid," he said. "Now, introduce me to this beauty on your arm."

"Bullit, this is Brooke Davis," Ryan said. "Brooke, this is my Dad, Gordon Bullit. But everyone calls him 'The Bullit'."

"Girl as pretty as you can call me anything she wants," Bullit said as Ryan rolled his eyes.

"No offense, but you're obviously old enough to be my father, so... ew," Brooke replied, shrugging with an expression that said 'sorry, not sorry'.

Bullit burst out laughing. "I like her," he told Ryan.

"I knew you would," Ryan replied, taking Brooke's hand.

"But you know Lubbock is gonna flirt with her just to try and annoy you."

"Yeah, but like Katie, Brooke has taste," Ryan said. "She'll be able to tell which Bullit Boy is for her."

"What am I missing?" Brooke asked.

"My sister-in-law Katie, she's married to my brother Hanoi. But, she first dated my brother Lubbock. For one date. Where he took her to muck out the horse stalls."

"I don't know exactly what 'muck out' means, but I'm gonna guess it's not first date material?"

"Shovel manure," Bullit explained as the three of them headed for the waiting limo. "My boys all had chores growing up, and that was his. He'd been lazy and not done it, I told him he couldn't go out until it was done, and he decided he'd have her help him."

"Do his gross chore?" Brooke asked.

"Exactly," Ryan said. "So picture this, Katie is from a well off family, too. Her dad is Texas' Senator Martin. She was apparently in designer jeans and a cute top for her date with the oh so charming Lubbock Bullit, and he hands her a shovel. She was absolutely furious, but actually started doing it, because she loves horses, she's done it before on her family's ranch, it's just..."

"Not a date activity," Brooke said. "So don't get any ideas."

Ryan laughed. "Don't worry, that's not one of my chores," he teased. "Anyway, the story goes that Katie was grinding her teeth, getting her jeans and boots covered in manure, and in walks Hanoi, who did a double take and realized just how pissed she was. He read Lubbock the riot act, because Lubbock may be older, but he's an idiot sometimes, then he asked Katie if she'd like to get cleaned up at the house, that'll he'd find her some clean pants and boots. Katie agreed, they went inside, she got clean and changed, and Hanoi asked if she'd like to go on a horseback ride around the property while she waited for Lubbock. Katie loves riding, so she agreed. From what Hanoi has said, he wasn't trying to steal her, he just wanted to distract her until Lubbock could fix his mess. Instead, by the time the ride was over, Katie was telling Lubbock there would not be a second date, then she turned and asked Hanoi if he'd like to have dinner with her. And Hanoi had managed to fall head over heels on the ride, but at the same time there's brotherly loyalty... well, let it be said, true love over rules brotherly love. The rest is history."

"Lubbock doesn't actually hold hard feelings about it," Bullit said as they got to the limo waiting for them. "But he sure does love to tease them both. Including teasing that Katie's gonna leave Hanoi for Ryan."

"Katie and I are pretty close," Ryan explained. "In a 'she's my big sister' kinda way. But Lubbock loves to tease."

"He'll regret it if he flirts with me," Brooke said with a sweet smile and a mischievous glint in her eye.

"He should be very afraid," Ryan told Bullit, making both he and Brooke laugh.

As they turned off the main road, Brooke frowned, looking out the window. "I don't see a house..."

"Wait for it," Ryan said, rolling down the window and leaning over her shoulder as they continued on, making a turn in the road and causing the Bullit Ranch to appear.

"Oh," Brooke murmured. The ranch house looked like an oversized log cabin, the type often found at luxury 'rustic' resorts, with large windows and upper balconies. As they approached, twinkle lights on the outside turned on, wrapped around the railings, and inside she could see what looked like an absolutely giant Christmas Tree, lit up in bright colors. "It's beautiful," she whispered.

"Yeah, it is," Ryan replied, wrapping an arm around her. "Welcome to my home."

When the limo pulled up to the door and they got out, the big main doors flew open and Brooke laughed as a bunch of men in jeans and plaid shirts poured out to great Ryan, some of them almost picking him up with their hugs. Following behind them was a heavily pregnant woman who shook her head affectionately.

"And you must be Brooke, the woman who thinks she's good enough for the Baby Bullit," the woman said. "I'm Katie, Hanoi's wife."

"Oh, it's nice to meet you!" Brooke said, shaking her hand.

As the Bullit boys finished their boisterous greeting, they all turned to Brooke, and at least two of them let out a wolf whistle that had Ryan smacking them upside their heads. "Hey, that's my girl!" he protested.

"Yeah, but you know how this family is about each other's girlfriends..." one of them said with a grin.

"Let me guess," Brooke said to Ryan. "He's Lubbock? The guy who thinks shoveling shit is a good first date?"

"You told?!" Lubbock whined.

"Well, he had to warn her to make sure she wasn't taken in by your... charm..." Katie said, struggling not to laugh.

"I hate all of y'all," Lubbock said with a grin as the others laughed. "I'm just teasing and they all know it," he added to Brooke. "I don't even like girls nowadays."

Ryan raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"Like you haven't known for years," Lubbock protested. He turned back to Brooke. "I'm gay. Buck the gay cowboy. Took some ribbing for that one."

Brooke laughed. "What a relief," she said. "I was worried I'd end up breaking Ryan's heart when I fell for you," she teased.

"In retrospect, we should have known by the fact that he was more interested in the manure than me in my tight jeans and cleavage revealing shirt," Katie said, shrugging. "Even Hanoi in his sweet, sweet innocence, did a little ogling, but not the guy I was suppose to be on a date with?"

"Why you gotta say it like that? Make me look like a perve?" Hanoi said, though he was looking at his wife adoringly.

"Why'd you gotta be a perve?" Katie countered with a grin. "Frankly, I wondered about Ryan, because he never ogled... then I figured out he's the only Bullit, including their daddy, with any manners or decorum. You got the brother who knows how to treat a lady." She shivered slightly. "Okay, enough of this, I'm freezing my ass off and I'm sure Brooke is, too," Katie said, linking her arm through the other girl's. "Hot chocolate? Maria makes the best... melts real chocolate in it. And peppermint stick stirrers... so good."

"Sounds amazing," Brooke agreed, glancing over her shoulder to see a content smile on Ryan's face as he and his brothers started grabbing their bags.

The End

Katie and Brooke are obviously fast friends. And Katie really does love Ryan like he's her own little brother, not just her brother-in-law. She loves all of Hanoi's brother, but Ryan will always have a special place in her heart.

Great meeting for Brooke and the Bullit family. I like how Katie is curious if Brooke is good enough for Ryan and considers him her brother.

It was hinted at but didn't fully make it into the bits taking place then, but after the car accident Katie's father gave her an ultimatum: Stopping seeing Hanoi and associating with the Bullits, or she'd be disowned. Katie chose the Hanoi and the Bullits because they would have never demanded something like that from her. Even if she and Hanoi had broken up at some point, she still would have been family at that point. They had a love for her and loyalty to her that her biological family didn't. So screw the Martins, she will gladly be a Bullit.
